To create awareness on the use of agricultural as a tool for sustainable development, the Foundation for Peace, Hope and Conflict Management (FPHCM), Nigeria organized an agro workshop with the theme: UTILIZING MODERN AGRICULTURAL TECHNOLOGIES TO CREATE JOBS, ALLEVIATE POVERTY AND BOOST SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT IN NIGERIA.
The Facilitator, Tanko H. Noma (Consultant in Agriculture/Horticulture) centered on the use of various agricultural technologies to boost agricultural development in Nigeria.
“Modern agricultural technologies are result/findings obtained from agricultural research institutes which when properly utilized during production, harvesting, storage, processing and marketing, brings about improving the living standard of rural populace, economic growth of our nation and sustainable development.
It involves modern methods of land preparation, planting, fertilizer application, weeding and crop harvesting, rearing and feeding of animals as well as processing, storage and marketing of farm produce. It also involves using improved and high yielding varieties of seeds and agro chemicals, etc…
for modern agricultural technology to take its rightful position in Nigeria, issues of oil spillage, Boko Haram, banditry, armed robbery and kidnapping observed in most parts of the Country, must be tackled by our security personnel, to its logical conclusion.
Let us wake up brethren and fight the monster called poverty.
A country that cannot feed itself is a disaster in waiting.”
