Our mission

To build a peaceful society, free of violence, unjust social structures and mutual suspicion among tribes, religions and ethnic groups — while creating structures for human capital development and environmental protection.

Our objective

To strengthen peaceful coexistence through conflict transformation, socioeconomic development, good governance, environmental protection, human rights and social justice.

Rev. (Prof.) A. I. Bature

Director, Foundation for Peace, Hope & Conflict Management

Rev. (Prof.) Bature leads the Foundation’s work towards an egalitarian society where peace, justice, trust and harmonious coexistence prevail for the common good.

He leads a dedicated team of programme staff and volunteers delivering dialogue and mediation, peace education, women and youth empowerment, and humanitarian outreach across the Benue–Taraba region.

Inclusive dialogue

We emphasise the word “inclusive” — we abhor discrimination and marginalisation of any group in the dialogue process. Our peacebuilding covers early warning and early response, dialogue and reconciliation, mediation, trauma and resilience skills, and cultural and religious coexistence.

Enterprise promotion

Creating wealth hinges on creating value, and prosperous communities are peaceful ones. We empower women and youths to be gainfully employed and self-reliant through vocational skills and entrepreneurship programmes.

Sensitisation & advocacy

Sustainable development must be backed by awareness. We carry out campaigns on contemporary issues across the states.

Promote good governance

Good governance is fundamental to economic growth, political stability and security. We create space for dialogue between elected leaders and the electorate, and promote the participation of women and youths in the democratic process.

Social justice & opportunity creation

We create avenues for equal opportunity for everyone in society, irrespective of gender, tribe or religion — improving livelihoods so that no one is left behind.

Nature protection

We are all accountable to posterity for the environment we leave behind. We promote renewable energy, efficient waste management and recycling, tree planting, and the protection of wildlife and national parks.
